Time For After (S8 Episode 7)

Time For After begins at the Sanctuary where Eugene sits in deep thought. He is making a three-column list of Things I Know, Things I Don’t Know, and Things I Am Unaware of Wholly. He then goes to Dwight’s room and tells him that he knows that he is the traitor. He tells Dwight to cease and desist the “backstabbery”. Dwight puts him in a chair and says the saviors and Negan are finished. He tells Eugene that all he has to do is nothing to be on the winning side.

Dwight tells him that he will have to do things if he stays that will change him. Eugene tells him that he only cares about being safe and that he is a Savior and he is Negan. He tells Dwight that he will not tell anyone about him helping Rick as long as he does not hurt any Saviors.

As Eugene walks down the hall, the doctor catches up to him and tells him that Father Gabriel is getting worse and he doesn’t have any meds to help him. He asks Euguene to stay with him so he can see if there are any herbs in the market. Gabriel, barely able to speak, asks Eugene to sit and says he looks worse than him. Gabriel asks Eugene if he is going to help him get the doctor out of the sanctuary. Eugene says no, but Gabriel says he always thought Eugene would do the right thing. He tells him it takes faith to do the right thing, which Eugene says is absurd.

Back in his room, one of Negan’s wives comes to see Eugene with a bottle of wine. He talks her into leaving a bottle of wine to help him sleep. She tells him that she and the other wives asked him to help change this place, but he only helped himself and now he has to live with that. As soon as she leaves, another girl arrives and says Negan wants to see him.

He arrives to see Negan and sits a table with him and Lucille. Negan tells Eugene that a lot of people will die if things don’t get fixed soon… except himself of course. Negan holds out his hand and Eugene tries to kiss it… Negan says he was going for a handshake. Eugene stands up and shakes his hand. Negan says its a sign of mutual respect and not a lot of people get that from him.

Eugene is working on a radio that he is fixing for one of Negan’s wives. He begins looking for something while wearing a headlamp. He finds a coffin and it immediately brings a vision of Sasha as a walker. He opens the coffin and finds the iPod he gave her.

Outside of the sanctuary, Daryl, Tara, Rosita, Michonne, and Morgan are planning a folow-up attack on the Sanctuary. Daryl wants to crash the truck into it and take them out. Rosita disagrees and thinks they should wait. She leaves because she doesn’t agree with the plan and she tries to get Michonne to come with her. Rosita says she has learned that sometimes you have to wait, but Michonne stays.

Morgan watches overhead as Daryl pulls up. They stop and are getting ready to attack. Michonne tells Darryl that it doesn’t feel right and maybe they need to just wait a little longer. She tells him she can’t do it then she gets out of the truck and starts to walk back. Tara comes up and reassures him that they can do it, especially since they have Morgan and the other snipers.

Meanwhile, Eugene has fashioned a drone with the iPod on it. He is going to use it to draw away the walkers from the sanctuary doors. Just when he is ready to turn it on, Dwight comes up behind him and tells him no to turn it on. Outside, everyone is in position as Daryl readies the truck. Eugene tries to tell Dwight how he is helping save the innocent people inside, but Dwight tells him they are almost there and then the innocent will truly be safe.

Eugene gathers some courage, starts the iPod, and sends the drone flying just as Darryl starts moving forward with the truck. Dwight shoots down the drone as the attach begins. The snipers, along with Tara, are shooting at the sanctuary. Darryl aims the dump truck, sets a brick on the pedal, and jumps out. The truck creates a hole in the sanctuary letting in the horde outside. Eugene watches with horror as the horde tears into the people down below while they try to escape up the stairs. He is overcome with anger and runs to Gabriel and tells him that he will never be on their side again. He will always obey Negan and he will not help him sneak out Dr. Carson.

Eugene is talking to Negan again and is asked if he can still make bullets. Negan says he is going to dump a shitstorm on Rick. Eugene appears to be about to tell him that Dwight is the traitor when Dwight and some others walk in. Eugene then calls an audible and says he fixed the intercom system. Eugene sits in his room alone while bullets are flying everywhere outside. He then chugs the rest of the bottle of wine.

While his group is mounting a second attack on the Sanctuary, Rick is being held in the cargo container at the Scavengers. The door opens and he tells Jadis that its not too late and that his offer still stands… join them or die. She snaps a photo of him. He is only in a pair of shorts. She snaps several more photos. Someone is sketching him as well.

Rick is brought out of the container and placed on his knees. Another container is opened and a walker with a spiked helmet is let out. It is being led by a long pole attached to it’s neck. They try to lead it to bite him, but Rick breaks out and takes control of it. He holds Jadis’ head down next to the walker and is immediately surrounded by her people.

He then tells the group that he is leaving and they can do whatever they want, but they might want to run. She holds up a hand to have them lower their weapons. He lets her up and she says they will join him. They come back with Rick. They come across a dead sniper. Rick takes his radio, but gets no response from his team. He grabs the sniper rifle and climbs to the top of the tower. He sees what his team did.
