In Do Not Send Us Astray, the Saviors bring the fight to the Hilltop, but it is not exactly a surprise for Maggie and the group. What Maggie doesn’t know is that the Saviors have a surprise of their own that is much worse. She also doesn’t know that Simon is operating freely because Negan is still missing. It was action packed episode that is going to have consequences to deal with as the season comes to a close. Check out our recap of Do Not Lead Us Astray below…

Do Not Lead Us Astray (S8, Episode 13)
Morgan is in the forest having visions of Gavin, the Savior that Henry killed. Gavin tells Morgan that he was supposed to do something. Morgan tries to attack him, but nothing is there. Then he hears a horn and starts blowing his horn which triggers a chain reaction of horns to warn the Hilltop.
At the Hilltop, Henry asks if he can have a gun, but Ezekiel tells him that he must stay inside and help guard the place. He pleads to Carol to let him help, but she says he will die if he goes outside during the attack. Siddiq meets the doctor at Hilltop and she grills him on his experience. She doesn’t think he is qualified, but he tells her to stop asking what he’s done and to start telling him what to do, which seems to make her like him. Outside… Jerry spots the Saviors coming from his lookout point on top of the wall.

As the Saviors arrive at the Hilltop, Maggie radios to Simon and identifies herself as the Widow. He tells her that he received her package, and she is going to have to pay. Maggie tells him that if he leaves now, she will let the prisoners live. If he does not, they will die. Simon says the prisoners got themselves into trouble so he doesn’t care about them anymore.
Simon then reminds his people that they are to finish all of them. Dwight reminds him that this isn’t what Negan wanted just as Daryl rides by and begins showering them with bullets from his motorcycle. He leads them into a trap as the Hilltop warriors begin slaughtering them. The Saviors begin firing their tainted arrows in retaliation.

Simon sneaks up to take out Tara… Daryl sees him, but he can’t get to him in time. Dwight shoots her in the shoulder with an arrow before Simon can get to her. Michonne says they have to go and all gets quiet. Simon is poking his around… all the lights have gone off. The Saviors quietly move into the house to look for everyone.
Simon is whistling when they are suddenly bombarded with machine guns from the windows as Rick and others flank them from behind. Rick and Morgan attack the Saviors in close combat, but Morgan keeps seeing Gavin. Gavin is saying “You know what is” over and over. Rick and Maggie unload on Simon’s truck as they escape from the Hilltop. After they are gone, Maggie says she wanted them all dead including Negan. Rick tells her he broke away and tried to kill Negan, but he wasn’t able to.

Siddiq tells Rick he can treat his wound. Rick doesn’t say anything so Siddiq sits by him. He tells him about a prayer for the dead that he heard when he was little, but Rick just walks off before he can help him. In the aftermath of the attack, there have been lots of injuries. Tobin looks very pale in his sleep. He dies suddenly in the night and reawakens as a walker several hours later. Other people who were wounded are showing symptoms as well. Tobin and others begin biting people. The doctor arrives and sees the mess, but he takes her out too. The new walkers wander into the main area of the house.
Henry grabs an assault rifle, goes to the prisoners, and asks Gregory if he knows who killed his brother. Gregory tells him the gun is dangerous and he should give it to him. One of the Saviors tells Henry that it will not make him feel better to kill the man. They hear screaming from the house.
Inside the house, it is chaos as newly awoken walkers are everywhere. Jared says the screaming is music to his ears. Henry opens the door to the pen and goes in. He says he wants the guy who killed his brother now. He gives a count to ten to step forward. A walker from within starts attacking before then, Henry shoots, but Jared knocks him down and takes his gun. The prisoners escape, including Gregory.
Rick, Morgan, and Daryl are taking out the remaining walkers. Walker Tobin is still attacking people until Carol comes in, sees it’s him, and takes him out without hesitation. Carol tells the others that Tobin hadn’t been bitten, and they realize that Negan planned this.
They regroup in Tara’s bedroom and tell her what happened. She thinks that she is infected too once tell her the news. Siddiq is running around outside helping people. Maggie runs across one of the Savior prisoners that has been more reasonable and he says he is helping, but the others left. He says that a group of them stayed even though they could have run. They want to help her.

Carol is searching for Henry when Enid walks up and tells of Henry breaking into the prisoner’s pen. The ghost of Gavin appears before Morgan and again keeps saying, “You know what it is”. Jesus and Jerry are digging a grave as Maggie looks on and realizes what the attack on Negan has cost them.
