EA & DICE promised big news for Star Wars: Battlefront II at E3 and they did not disappoint. Below are some of the key takeaways:
DLC
Let’s start with the big news surrounding your finances – Season Passes are a thing of the past. There is no need to purchase additional content after you’ve already purchased the game, because it’s all going to be included. It’s a novel concept, right? You buy the game and you’re entitled to the entire game. Content will be released in batches starting with maps and characters from the upcoming The Last Jedi film.
Single Player Campaign
As much as I loved multiplayer on the original Battlefront (and still do), the lack of a solo campaign was disappointing. Sometimes you just want to play the game without the distractions of multiplayer: long wait times, network issues, getting drilled by elite players, etc. I’m happy to report EA & DICE listened intently to feedback. The single-player campaign for Battlefront II sounds outstanding. You are Iden Versio – an Imperial Commander who is engaged in battle on Endor as she incredulously watches the Death Star explode from above. From there, she leads a group of elite troopers on a mission to avenge the Emperor. If you haven’t already, check out the campaign trailer below for a first hand look.
More Everything
More characters, more maps, more vehicles, more weapons, more star cards, more gameplay modes – all equate to more time spent playing Battlefront II. With access to all eras of Star Wars characters, there will be something for everyone. Even the prequels are getting some love (as expected, Darth Maul appears to be a one-man wrecking crew).
The game drops on November 17th. For those who are most definitely purchasing a copy, pre-ordering will score you some extras. Links for the pre-order options from Amazon and Gamestop are listed below for both the standard and deluxe versions. Those who commit early will be rewarded with beta access and content from The Last Jedi – complete with themed looks and modifiers for Kylo Ren and Rey.
