Call of Duty: WWII – All the Details

Call of Duty: WWII is coming our way this November 3rd and we have all the details of the new installment.  You can forget the futuristic weapons and the jump boosts because Activision is taking us back in time to World War II.  The series is returning to its roots as the battles rages across the European landscape.  Of course we are here to break down the features of the next installment of Call of Duty for you.

Story Mode

Call of Duty’s campaign focuses on the camaraderie of men as they fight across the hostile European countryside in epic battles.  The focus is on common men and how they band together against impossible conditions to fight against tyranny.  The campaign mode centers around a member of the US 1st infantry division named Ronald “Red” Daniels.  Red fights alongside Allied forces from the UK and France in a gritty battle that promises to deliver an experience that was not possible on previous game systems.  Some of the most famous battles of WWII are part of the campaign including the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, the liberation of Paris and the Battle of the Bulge.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer mode promises innovations across the board that include new ways to connect, compete, and engage with the community.  Players can select from World War II era divisions to develop their career.  These divisions include the Airborne, Mountain, Infantry, Armored, and Expeditionary divisions.  Each division boasts its own unique weapons package from silenced SMGs to sniper rifles to explosives and incendiary rounds.

The new multiplayer enhancements also includes a War Mode that puts players in a narrative driven cooperative mission where they must play as a team to defeat a common enemy.  War Mode includes assault and defend missions between the Allied and Axis forces.

There is also a new Headquarters mode that provides a place for players to show off their accomplishments, earn rewards, and connect with other players.  As for the maps, the options we have seen thus far include an area called Point Du Hoc surrounding a fortified German bunker, the snow covered Ardennes Forest, and a battle in a small village as part of Operation Breakout, which is a War Mode map.

Of course, no Call of Duty game is complete without a zombies mode.  The zombie mode in WWII promises a new and original story for the fan favorite stand-alone feature.
