Avengers: Infinity War May Be Marvel’s Finest Hour

If you are a fan of the Marvel cinematic universe, Avengers: Infinity War is the movie that you have been waiting years to see. All of the previous Marvel movies have been meticulously setting the stage for this climatic event that marks a turning point for the universe. Infinity War has been billed as the movie that will change everything as Marvel advances toward the finale of Phase 3, and it lives up to the hype. I advise you to see it as soon as possible to avoid the spoilers that are starting to come in waves throughout social media and internet news sites. If you haven’t seen it though, our spoiler free review of Avengers: Infinity War is below…

Infinity War Thanos

Infinity War picks right up right where the first post-movie scene of Thor: Ragnarok ended. We almost immediately get our first good look at Thanos and his personality. I said this is a spoiler-free review so I’m not going to give any more details of that scene or any others, but believe me when I say that Thanos is by far the best villain to date in the Marvel Universe. Don’t get me wrong, I love Loki as a villain, but for a completely animated character, Thanos brings a strong presence and gravity to the film that we have not seen before.

What make Thanos such a great villain is that he does not believe he is a bad person. He sees a correction that needs to be made in the universe and, in his mind, he is bearing the burden of making a very tough choice to do what is the necessary, if not noble, thing to do. Thanos is committed to his cause even if some may suffer to bring peace for others.

The now-disbanded Avengers have never faced a foe such as this and they are scrambling to address the threat that rapidly presents itself to them. This results in them being spread across the universe in smaller teams as they each do their part to end Thanos’ quest.

Avengers Infinity War - Dr. Strange, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner

Infinity War does a superb job of handling the interactions with the various characters that have not met on screen before. The banter between Thor and a little too self-conscious Star-Lord is hilarious as is Tony Stark’s expression when he first meets the rag-tag crew that are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Bruce Banner also provides quite a bit of humor while continuing to face his inner battle with “the other guy”.

Of course, Infinity War also continues to raise the bar on the action. The fights in multiple locations each have their own moments that make your inner monologue say, “OMG, that was so awesome!” Captain America’s new mountain-man look gives him a gritty, “don’t mess with me son” feel that make his fight scenes all the more interesting, and Thor… well, he has become the coolest figure in the MCU with his new lightning powers.

Avengers Infinity War - Thor and Rocket

Marvel has warned us for months that Infinity War will change everything and they were not lying. I am not going to spoil it, but the end leaves you thinking, “wow… so that just happened,” without really knowing how to process it. It is great because it is unexpected and it leaves you now counting the days until Infinity War Part II comes out.

Seriously… go see this before it gets spoiled for you… right now. Let us know what you thought of Avengers: Infinity War in the comments below!
